I started rereading the books and I'm currently on book 4. And while reading the scene in the Chapter "Leavetakings" (Lan kissing Nynaeve), I noticed something that almost certainly has to be a mistake on RJ's part ( I really said it, didn't I?). The scene is from Elayne's point of view. At some point, Nynaeve shows Lan the letter from the Amyrlin and she says something like: "Just count yourself lucky I don't tell you to dance for me." Now, Egwene and Elayne both laugh, because they both remember that Nynaeve said she could make a Warder dance with that letter, when they got it from the Amyrlin, and they (Egwene and Elayne) hadn't had any doubt which Warder she meant, then. But here's the point: when the Amyrlin gave the letter to Nynaeve (in book 3), only Egwene was present. The Amyrlin had sent Elayne away earlier, because she didn't want to involve her in the search for the Black Ajah (because of the problems she already had with Morgase). Of course, Nynaeve and Egwene told Elayne later about the search (and the letters). But I cannot imagine Egwene telling Elayne about what Nynaeve said when they got it. There would be no point in that. And Nynaeve certainly would not tell Elayne. Anyway, the fragment in book 4 suggests Elayne was present when it was said; not her hearing it later. So, to cut a long story short, Elayne could never have known what Nynaeve said when she got the letter.

Liandra: Women gossip;) I think it's likely Egwene told Elayne. An I think RJ will say that too;)

Liandra: Women gossip;) I think it's likely Egwene told Elayne. An I think RJ will say that too;) Women gossip, alright. But I don't see why Egwene would tell Elayne. It doesn't matter what Nynaeve said (that she said anything), does it? On the other hand, she sure seems preoccupied with Lan and Nynaeve in the first books. I'm really getting annoyed with her for all the times she's thinking: "Nynaeve isthinking about Lan again." "Oh boy, Nynaeve is thinking about Lan again." "O my, Nynaeve is..." GET A MAN OF YOUR OWN! (And this may be another mistake or not, but everytime someone is hinting at Nynaeve and Lan, she doesn't understand, even if it's so obvious even a two-year old would understand!) Anyway, even if Elayne and Egwene did gossip, the text is clearly hinting that Elayne was there. And she was not.

I am temped to do a thread about the mistakes that RJ has made in this series...I love the series, but it is true that RJ has slipped up several times in the books...Stating with {The Eye of the World}
Master Kinch gave the same scarf to Rand and Mat twice when they were on the Caemlyn road...in later editions they changed the farmers name, but in the first printing it was Kinch both times...
Thom's flashing daggers, there has never been mention of the Aes Sedai making daggers with the power, besides before they ever got to Whitebridge Thom said he had used his best daggers on the Trolloc's...
In tEotW Loial could not see well in the dark....In tGH Loial could see in the dark like a cat...

I think that "Thom and his daggers" need not be a mistake. Of course, it wasn't mentioned that daggers (I thought they were knives, but well, that's not really the point) were made with the One Power, but it wasn't mentioned they were not, either. It could be both ways. And as for Thom saying he used his best daggers on the Trollocs... well, he could have lied. He isn't bounded by the Three Oaths as far as I know and I really wouldn't be suprised if he decided to keep the fact that he owned this "magical" daggers hidden.

He was muttering and angry when he said it...I am sure his best daggers had been used up...although he did leave the boys in the alley and went to purchase a new cloak...he could have gotten new daggers also...so if they used that as an excuse I would accept it...because he was on a buying expedition at the local 'Wal-Mart' in Whitebridge...so I would accept that as really happening...
