What's the difference between the Ajahs? The only Ajah who's purpose I'm aware of is the Black Ajah, which serves the dark one. What about the red Ajah, the green Ajah, brown, yellow, blue, etc. What do Sedais of those Ajahs do? (Dumb question for a WoT fan, I suppose...)

i guess your still pretty early in the books so ill try to leave it without spoilers. trust me it becomes much easier in later books to keep them strait Blue: to quote moiriane, the blues "right wrongs, which is different than seeking justice like grays or greens" Verin calls them Seekers After Causes. basically, the blues are the big picture thinkers, they set themselves goals to keep the world moving. ex. finding the DR, finding more novices, etc. Red: the red ajah devotes themselves to hunting down men who can channel and gentling them, henceforth preventing another breaking. the reds often have an unjust side of men altogether, but then again thats stereotyping. Green: The green ajah is the battle ajah, they prepare themselves for Tarmon Gai'don. greens can have multiple Warders because they fight so much. because of this, Greens marry far more often than other ajahs. occasionally, some green sisters are called for by the borderlands to help put down exceptionally bad flareups. Greens seek justice where it can only be found by their Warder's swords Yellow: The yellow ajah is devoted to healing and curing diseases. sisters of the yellow ajah have very strong Talents in healing. Yellows research new methods of healing, and when injured people come to the tower, it is usually they who heal them. (with the exception of mat b/c he had the whole Shadar Logoth problem so he was a special case) Gray: The gray ajah specialize in negotiation and mediation. (not meditation, trust me many people have made that mistake in reading) they know the law and custom of every land, often better than the rulers do. Grays are often advisors to rulers and are sent to troubled countries to prevent war. Brown: The brown ajah is dedicated to the preservation of knowledge. Browns are described as often absentminded, caring little of what is happening around them. if a piece of ancient history exists, you can count on browns to know it word for word. some browns keep additonal apartments above the library because they use it so much! White: the white ajah is the smallest ajah and is dedicated to logic. not many whites have warders and pretty much none marry since they believe it unneccecary. whites seldom show emotion, but are sometiems coldly arrogant. another oddity of whites is that the always wear white, and only in mourning do they don glossy black ribbons. Hope that helps ya

Isn't the Blue more like a Ajah that meddles in politics? And I don't seem to remember anything about AS activiely searching for novices before the breaking of the Tower... They seemed to think that girls who wanted to be AS should come to the Tower voluteeringly... IIRC, ofc...

I also remember reading in one of the books that the AS were surprised that Elayne didn't pick the blue since she's basically a politician/head of state. So I guess the blues are considered the politics ajah.
Since Egwene never got to chose an ajah, which one do you think she would have picked? I think she might have picked green to help Rand in the final battle.

A majority of main characters seem to be choosing Green...
Hm. I always thought she might choose Blue. I'm not sure what my reasoning on that is, though.
