*spoilers*
I agree with you about Egwene. For a while there in the last couple of books I was annoyed with her. But wow, she is a tough cookie!
I kinda like Tuon, though. I think she's funny.
My main disappointment is with the character of Perrin. He seems to be going downhill. And the deaths of Aram and that Aiel guy have me downright mad, though you knew they were coming.
Nynaeve remains the greatest.

I found most of the Perrin and Faile stuff really tiresome. Until the rescue it was just more of the same thing that's been in the last two books.
I would have liked more Rand chapters, because I'm more interested with what's going on there... mostly because Nynaeve's with him, I'll admit.
Wow, and I wish the Nyn/Lan scene had been longer; it was so adorable. I particularly liked "In front of everyone? You've always been so shy about that" and the back-clawing comment. LOL! Seriously, no wonder she blushed!
I was kinda annoyed at Rand later on when he was thinking along the lines of "Why did Nyn send Lan away? Probably for reasons of her own... Aes Sedai and their bloody secrets." It sounded to me as though he didn't respect her half enough as he should have when she just helped him cleanse the freakin' taint, and also is REALLY OBVIOUSLY looking out for him and worrying about him all the time... not to mention, how many bloody secrets does HE have from everyone? And Nynaeve's sending Lan away was so selfless, Rand doesn't know the half of it!
Grr; stupid woolheaded Dragon Reborn!

I'm re-reading tEotW and i'm noticing some really interesting stuff.
Perrin is always the "odd man out" its always rand and mat doing stuff. Rand and mat in the begining, Rand and Mat getting the barrels to splash the whitecloaks, rand and mat dancing with nynaeve and moiriane in the common room.
That might be why i don't get all nostalgic with him like i do when i think about nynaeve egwene or rand, and why his scenes are so tiresome. i don't think his character was explored enough. (at this point i'd rather see less of him though than have his character developed)
Another funny point, originally Nynaeve was the love interest for Rand, so if you re-read the first few scenes of tEotW you'll notice nynaeve be nasty to everyone except rand whose she's really gentle to. (i like lan better though, i'm glad RJ abandoned that fool notion)

Instead we got something beautiful and original and just right. You know what gets me is wondering how far in advance RJ came up with all the couples for definite. Because when Rand first saw Min, he thought she was crazy, didn't seem to find her particularly attractive in any way, and basically just wanted to get the hell away from her. And yet in a couple of books time, he's thinking how he wished Min were there, bla bla bla... It just seems so wrong and last-minute, like RJ suddenly changed his mind halfway through. I wonder if there was ever a time that he only intended Elayne for Rand... back when Aviendha didn't exist and Min was just a cameo character. Was anyone else disappointed not to see a little more Gareth and Siuan? They're probably my 3rd favourite couple in the book... probably cause they're so Nyn/Lan-esque.

Actually, i was really dissappointed with the lack of Siuan/Gareth. Siuan and Nynaeve are tied for coolness in my book, and i was hoping to see the viewing involvinng her having to stay close to Gareth take some part in KoD. For the little section of KoD involving the Salidar Aes Sedai we got to see Siuan thinking about Bryne, but nothing beyond that. I want to hear about Gareth's point of view, just to see what he feels like for falling for a woman he used to consider a leather faced taskmisstress. More than anything, I want to see Siuan give Elaida her well-deserved smackdown.

Ugh. Perrin. The Woolhead.
Yeah ...I kinda wish there had been more Siuan and Gareth in KoT. They're so funny together. They vaguely remind me of Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton in "The Taming of the Shrew," though I don't know what that has to do with anything. Thanks to Squilo for forcing me to rethink my previous anti-Siuan notions.
Idunno. I like Min a lot as a character, but I think Rand has the best chemistry with Aviendha. Rand and Min seem more ...comradely or something.

Lets not even call Perrin by his name anymore. I'm just going to refer to him as "Hairy fluff-for-brains" or for short, HFFB.
Min is the one he is most comfortable with, Aviendha totally confuses him sometimes because of culture clash. Min and Rand have similar upbrinings so when Rand feels like having a conversation, Min is the one to go to.
Elayne is well...Elayne. I like her, but her relationship with Rand was the sum of 2 maybe 3 meetings and then deciding she loves him and getting pregnant.

I could see it that way from Rand's point of view ...the culture clash adds a lot of character though.
I don't like Elayne and Rand together at all. It seems like their coupleness is just there for plot development. I'm trying to think what kind of guy I would put with Elayne. Hmm.
HFFB ...hehehe ...only, it sounds a little too much like my nickname, which is Featherbrain. *I* would never cause Aram's death! ...I think. *ignore the feathers for brains*

I for one am quite happy to use 'HFFB' from now on.
"Elayne is well...Elayne. I like her, but her relationship with Rand was the sum of 2 maybe 3 meetings and then deciding she loves him and getting pregnant."
LOL! That is a pretty accurate summary, right enough. Because I never really warmed to Min, and I find Aviendha's relationship with Elayne more believable than hers with Rand, I always had hope for Rand and Elayne... I like the chemistry they had in the Palace Gardens, but unfortunately that chemistry never really came back. I'm just SO FED UP of Rand and Min; I wish atleast that two of the girls, if not three, could travel with him instead of just Min - that would be something we hadn't seen before in EVERY SINGLE BOOK... just seeing how it works when there's two 'sharing' his affections.
Does Rand know that Elayne is pregnant?

LOL, no Rand doens't know Elayne is pregnant;) ( i thought, hope i am not making a big mistake here) I actually like Elayne, Min and Aviendha. I do think Elayne decided quickly she loved Rand, but that can happen in real life too. And she didn't decide to become pregnant.... it was just a mistake. I also am liking Perrin again. For my feelings he didn't do enough before book 9. I thought he improved in book 10 and 11. Although ofcourse he also changed a bit morally. Hacking of hands is not good, i am happy he did throw the axe away, although not sure that a hammer is better. Perhaps in battle an axe is better..

I have been thinking since I read the series in 2000 that it would be great if Nynaeve could get the knowledge of healing from Semirage...and I even mentioned it in a thread over at Dragonmount in 2002...
I even hypothisized that Jordan would do something that would bring Semirage and Nynaeve together so this could happen...It was great that I was right...one of the reasons I had this thought was because of how Nynaeve tried to get knowledge out of Mogedian who knew basicially nothing...but most writers will throw out things that do not seem important at the time, but become important later...

One thing I like about Sanderson...he updates his site at least once a month...and he has a meter telling just how much of a book he has finished...
He is almost half way through book 13 even before Gathering Storm is on the shelves...
He is much younger than Jodan was and he is healthier...he is a fast writer also...
And a great deal of what is going into the books was already done by Jordan over the three years between KoD and his death...
