I'm halfway through "the dragon reborn", and I'm wondering about this Selene/Lanfear characther. She's one of the forsaken right? The thing is; she doesn't seem very evil to me... "what's up with that?" -------------- Question: What's the only thing that scares Lan? Answer: Lan-fear. <- Hehe, good one Liandra

Well, in the Age of Legends Lanfear (then called Mierin) was Lews Therin's lover. When he sort of dumbed her, she was really pissed. And she never really let go of him. Now she thinks Rand is Lews Therin, so she wants Rand. Anyway, in the Age of Legends, she also was a scientist and when studying a new power, she was the one that No, I won't tell you. You'll find out soon enough. And I don't think you'll like her as much then as you do now. Also, she will After that, you may like her even less. But perhaps you're right. She doesn't seem wholy bad. As does none of the female Chosen to me, really. The men are evil, but the women...? No... They have done evil things, but I don't think they are completely evil. Why...? Perhaps because, as RJ says himself, every female character in tWoT is based on his wife. And come on, can you picture him thinking of his wife as completely evil?

If ever you doubt that the female Chosen aren't "evil" enough, just look up Semirhage.

I’ve been wondering. Silvie, we haven’t seen much more to her. So could that also be a little Lanfear in disguise? But why would she tri make them go to Tear? Probably to get them in the black ajah trap. That means Lanfear has been cooperating with the black ajah, and she has resource in Tar Valon, if not how could she Eg, El and or lovely Nynaeve was hunting the black ajah. And the only ones who knotweed that would be Siune (the Amerlyn then or something) and Verin. Well… Maybe I am totally on the wrong track hear, but still, there has to be something I have missed hear

To Liandra's comment:
I think the female forsaken are MORE evil than the men because they [Lanfear, Grindall, etc] have a trace of good in them.

To Liandra's comment: I think the female forsaken are MORE evil than the men because they [Lanfear, Grindall, etc] have a trace of good in them. Hmm... you could have a point there. Also, when talking about the female Forsaken not being completely evil, I must have forgotten about Semirhage... She is definately evil! About Silvie: I think it was Lanfear, as well. But I don't think she had to have links with the Black Ajah - or the Tower, for that matter - to know Tear would be a dangerous place for EgELNyn to be. Think about this (I'm not sure all this was true at that time or at all, but enough had to be true then for her to tell Egwene to go to Tear): - She knows Be'lal rules there. - She (probably) knows Rand is going there, and therefore, his enemies as well. - She walks the World of Dreams: * so does the Black Ajah, who is... going to Tear * so do EgElNyn who are looking for the BA in... Tear Reason enough for her to believe Tear might be a very good place for EgElNyn to go...
