Nynaeve al'Meara She just rulez! From the very beginning of the series, I loved her. When Lan told her he could not marry her, I almost cried. I did cry when I found out there wasn't but a short and meaningless passage of her in CoT. When she almost died in aCoS, I myself was scared to death. And when Lan saved her, I was so happy! This thread is to discuss the thing that connects us: our love for Nynaeve al'Meara. When did you began to love her? Why do you think she rulez? "Some women don't ask for land, or gold. Just the man." "And the man who would ask her to accept so little would not be worthy of her. You are a remarkable woman, as beautiful as the sunrise, as fierce as a warrior. You rule, Wisdom." Hm. Do I love Nynaeve? No. I love you. Do I like Nynaeve? Yes and no. Yes, for she is funny when near Lan. No, for I hate her Mistress-know-it-all-acts. Sturdy lady... Ah, just kidding. Nynaeve is a great character. Everybody has an opinion about Nynaeve, and that's because of her such a strong personality. I like her, though not as much as I like Aviendha. Nynaeve Rulez, because she always thinks she knows it all, when she really doesn't know it all. In the end, though, she always turns out to be right. Hm, now that's confusing. Anyway: yay for Nynaeve!

I have to admit, I didn't love Nynaeve from the first. Probably because EotW didn't do her much justice to begin with... because the only side to her that was shown was her bossing and sniffing and pride. Truth be told, I guess it was the Lan relationship that made me warm to her. Because that's where she started to falter, and her competition with him was so interesting. It was an unexpected, very beautiful thing and a really pleasant surprise for me. It just helped to show there was something more to her, something very vunerable about her. Apart from that, she is now one of the most powerful Aes Sedai alive Bless RJ. Also, I suppose I never warmed to Moiraine because of a lack of being able to empathise with her on an emotional level... on account of she barely showed any, and Egwene just annoys the heck outta me (I apologise to any Egwene fans present. I just hated the whole "She's so perfect and beautiful that everyone falls in love with her at first sight"). I'm so glad you guys got a forum up

I loved Nynaeve from the first time i read about her.... i believe it was about page 20 or so when it was told that she thumped someone with her walking stick after he said she was too young.... a grave mistake when it comes to Nyna *wink*
The way she acts and behaves, it just overwhelms me. Always as a reader, i don't feel inside the story, i feel like an observer and nothing more. But when it's Nynaeve thoughts that are written i can feel her anger so strongly! when she said she one day will get Moiraine with the one power!. I actually dislike Moiraine quite strongly just because Nynaeve does *g*
When Lan refused her i felt like i've been said that. Also, my favorite parts ever are the ones they are in. In book 1 when he refuses her, book 2 when he gives her his ring, book 4 when he learns she's going to tanchico and literally sweeps her off her feet, of course when they got married*g*
She cracks me up and is some sort of a model for me. I would very much like to have her character and confidance.
well... i guess i should stop now cause i could babble about her for about 10000000000 more lines *bg*

Then what are you doing here, Ziburan? Just kidding, friend. It's good to see you here. How many WoT books have you read so far, by the way? Anyway, to stay on-topic. I did not like Nynaeve from the very beginning. It was after her crush on Lan, that I began to like her. Lan Rulez! So when she began to like him, she started to rule as well. I didn't like the way she thought about Moiraine, though.

Wolf, I have read 3 WoT books so far (have 6 others on my shelves though). Wel, in the first three books she is just not my kind of character. I like Min and the princess (what's her name again?), that Rhand meets when he climbs over the wall of the palace garden.

You mean Elayne, Ziburan. I liked her too, in the beginning. But as the series continue, she becomes kind of boring, in my opinion. Aviendha stays cool, though.

Yeah, Elayne, that's her name. Had Ehlana in my mind, but that is a David Eddings character ;D.

well this is how i started liking her. how i decided to read the books was when my dad was listening to them on book on tape in the car when he drived. i loved the books even though it ruined alot of the series it still acted like a good prequal. so anyways when i overheard the nyn and moggy scene in tanchico i thought it was so cool. and earlier i heard about nyn beatin up that sul'dam in book 2 and so i decided to begin to pay attention to her anyways. here is how i started to like her from when i actually started READING the books. at first she reminded me exactly of a rpg character i took 4 years making same coloring same braid and same temper so i began to like her. then when she started channeling and doing cool stuff, i liked her more. and more and more and more etc. but most of all this is why i like her. she sticks up to rand, but doesnt control him. rand is the DR but he is still a person and can make mistakes nyn guids him and makes sure he doesnt go off and kill himself but she doesnt keep him on a leash and try to manipulate him like the AS do. she also doesnt grovel to him like "my lord dragon, can i lick your boots?" so thats why i like nynaeve!

For some reasons I have always liked Nynaeve and Lan.... There is just something about there love for each other that is like a mountain, unmoveable...
When Jordan started with {The Eye of the World} he started with young people from an isolated village... He showed there weaknesses and strengths... There prejudices, and he took them from the safety of that village and they had to grow or die...
The truth is the one that I liked the least was Mat... He seemed so like a selfish boy...
I really come to love his character in {The Dragon Reborn} because he began to show how loyal and resourseful he was...
This has happened to all the characters, I believe that Jordan wanted to show how being out in the world would change these young people..

I had the same thing with Mat. First, I really didn't like him. Now I like him best of the three Emond's Field boys. I cannot possibly say why, though.

It's because he has grown up and he can be funny when he tries to relate to women...
