After reading Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" this winter, and after reading his "American Gods" last autumn, I just gotta say that he has bumped well up on my list.
Just amazing, the way he mixes modern society with arcane and obscure mythology.

It has been almost 7 years since this post was started in that time GRRM has only finished {Feast for Crows} it was one of the worst books I have ever read...almost as bad as some of the drivel that Terry {don't ask me why} Goodkind...
I have lost all respect for Martin...he does not care about his fans...and I don't believe that he will ever finish {A Song Of Ice And Fire}
There has to come a point when you give up on an author...and 2007 was when I gave up on George R.R. Martin...and still no new book...

My favorite High Fantasy is still {Wheel Of Time} we still have to see how Sanderson does in trying to mold the notes and what Jordan had already written to see if the ending will seem like Jordan doing his best...it is very sad that RJ did not live to finish his masterpiece...Scholars and interested fans will spend the next 3000 years until the next age comes...perhaps The Age Of Legends in discussion of how this major work turned out...
